Another purge...of a different kind.

I'm not a huge Oprah fan... more anti-Oprah actually.  But I caught her show yesterday where she focused on a family that needed to re-connect, as this family of 4 were always going in dozens of different directions.  More importantly, they were not plugged in when they were together due to all the electronic/technology distractions.  So, she had a life organizer (now that's something I sooo need), move in with them for a week.  The first thing he did was put all things electronic in a vault... TV, dvd players, cell phones, computers, and microwave to name a few.  The one week change in this family was dramatic.

This has inspired me to make a change for 2010.  One day a week I'm going to go electronic free... I haven't quite decided what day I'm going to do it, but one day a week we will go electronic free... no TV, no texting, no computer (eeekkk... this one scares me the most)... I'm addicted to my computer.  I won't include the microwave like they did as Madalynn & I almost always sit down at the table together for dinner with no TV, so I don't see mealtime as an issue for us.  My other exception is going to be my computer for work.

I'm on the fence on my camera as I just began the 365 challenge, however it can take time away from Madalynn & I as I'm all about getting the picture vs spending time with her.  Unless, that day of the week I limit myself to only take pictures when I'm not with Madalynn??  Hmmmm.... what do you think???

Leave a comment on what you think on the camera front?  I'll keep you posted on what day a week I choose, and blog about how it goes.

Terri,

I'm more worried that you are putting too much pressure on yourself. If the moment strikes you, take a picture but, like you said, don't let it get in the way of quality time with Madalynn. I try to have a weeknight or two when the tv doesn't get turned on. Unless you really need the structure, you can be flexible with the day of the week you choose or you could pick actual dates - the 10th and 22nd for instance ... whatever works.

Let us know how it goes.
