2009 in Pictures

One (or 2, or 3 or 4) of my favorite pictures from each month of 2009. I did this last year on my blog, and the pictures for Jan & Feb were taken in Guatemala before she came home.  This year I have an entire 12 months of pictures taken by me.

Christmas Cheer

Madalynn singing "When Christmas Comes to Town" from The Polar Express soundtrack... please excuse my singing in the background, and the mess in the kitchen as we were baking cookies.

Unexpected Snow Day...

I guess all snow days are somewhat unexpected... this one totally was for me.  I rarely get to see the news to know what the weather conditions are, as the morning news hour coincides with "Curious George" on PBS,  so I was shocked yesterday to see the snowflakes start to come fast, and hard.  In a few hours we had a few inches, and I took Madalynn outside to play.  I need to get a sled... here are SOME photos I was able to get her to cooperate for.  Our neighbor was out too, so she got to play with her friend for about an hour filling buckets with snow, packing them down & dumping them out.  It was such fun.

Christmas Wrap Up

Christmas was so special this year.  I can't pinpoint exactly why, but it was just wonderful.  I'm so sad it's over, and I'm dreading the clean-up that lies ahead.

Christmas Eve we went to mass at my brother's church as my niece & nephew were singing in the choir.  I told my Mom there is nothing sweeter on Christmas Eve than hearing children's voices singing Christmas hymns.  This is the only shot I got of Madalynn that you can see all of her dress & it's a terrible picture.... so bummed, she was dancing to the music coming out of Snoopy behind her.

Ready for bed reading the passage in Luke with Ga-Ga telling the Christmas story.

Of course we left out cookies, and egg nog for Santa, and a carrot for Rudolph. I actually had to get Madalynn back out of bed to do this b/c I forgot.

Christmas morning Madalynn took about an hour and a half to open her presents (not because there was that many but because she took her time).  My parents arrived around 7am, and got to see her come out & see what Santa had left her.

My parents got her an indoor roller coaster... it's so cute.  A 10 foot track, and she goes about another 5 feet past the end.  This had been wrapped in the basement for over a week, and she'd seen it a few times so she knew it was there... it's such fun... I think her cousins will have a ball on it too.  The pictures are a little fuzzy as it's fast...

After Ga-Ga & Grandpa left we had a few hours before we had to be at there house for Christmas with the rest of the family.  Madalynn watched Charlie Brown Christmas in her bean bag chair with her 2 new dollies.

As we were having dinner Christmas night I looked out the window, and saw it was lightly snowing... just a dusting, but it was so nice.  Christmas morning I got overwhelmed with emotion (AGAIN)... Madalynn was in the living room playing with her new toys with Grandpa, I was in the kitchen making breakfast with my Mom, and aunt, listening to Christmas music.  I just looked at my Mom crying and said "THIS is Christmas".

I hope you all had a wonderful blessed Christmas.

Christmas Card...

Since I posted the Christmas card outtakes I thought I'd post those that made the cut & the final version.  I am quite a beginner at digital scrapbooking, but put my card together this year using digital scrapping software, and then had them printed...  I have waaaay too much fun with this software.
