Celebrity Fathers

So one of those articles came up on the MSN news page that said "Our Favorite Celebrity Dads, and the kids Who Love Them". I didn't click on the article b/c our societies obsession with celebrities drives me crazy. Why we put them up on a pedestal because they can read a line, sing a song, or hit a ball as 'GODS' is beyond me. But that is for another post.

The purpose of this post is to talk about MY favorite celebrity dads, and the kids who love them. These are Dads who put family first, at great sacrifice to themselves.

My Dad who worked hard all during my growing up years to keep our family thriving. I know it was a struggle for he & my Mom to make ends meets, but we never wanted for anything. My Dad is a man of exceptional integrity. I doubt you could find a more honest or moral man. The greatest gift he gave to me & my brother was to honor our mother. To this day after 40 years of marriage he still looks at her with adoration in his eyes, and would move heaven & earth for her if he needed to. He is a very gentle man, of quiet humbleness. A man who adores his grandchildren, and didn't hesitate at all to step in as the male role model in Madalynn's life.

My brother who has at times worked up to 3 jobs to provide for his family of 3 children, and has still found time to coach little league, and be treasurer of their schools PTO(and go back to school for his masters). He lights up around his children, and truly puts them first. He enjoys them, and finds delight in them. He coaches their teams, and video tapes all dance recitals, and birthday parties.

At Christmastime we had driven over an hour to my aunt & uncles house for a celebration, and after having driven over an hour home, his cell phone rings to say that 'Puddles' his youngest daughter's most beloved, can't live (or sleep) without friend has been left at my aunt & uncles. What does my brother the Dad do? He drops everyone off, and turns around in his car to drive an hour plus back to their house to pick up 'Puddles'... that is a great Dad. (Did I mention it was the day of the Patriots final game in their undefeated season, and we had left my aunt & uncles house to make it home in time for the game).

When Madalynn was just a far away dream in my heart, and mind. I pondered what would happen if she were in a dance recital with a 'Father/Daughter' number, and my brother responded without missing a beat 'I'd go up there with her'. Not hesitating for one moment to fill that space in her life despite the needs of his own family, and constraints on his time.

Maybe these celebrity dads talked about in the article would do some or all of these things too, I can't say. This father's day I wish my Dad, and my brother all the best, and thank them for the love, and support they give to all of us.

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY DAD!!

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY ROB!!
